FUTURE ICONS
REEBOK FUTURE ICONS - 2018 (UNRELEASED)
Anchored in the 80’s. Reimagined for the future. This project was an exploration on how to celebrate the era when Reebok led the pack in fitness footwear and how to amplify their unique details to reintroduce these icons to a new generation.
REEBOK FUTURE WORKOUT PLUS
The iconic “H-strap” in the mid-foot was the springboard for the design here. We repeated this element multiple times to bring emphasis to this function-driven pattern piece. The heritage “window-box” lateral logo is highlighted by bringing a red and blue stitch across it. The collar entry is a deconstructed, raw-edge leather gusset and the outsole stitch was brought around the entire shoe to bring an interesting transition to the upper.
REEBOK FUTURE EXO-FIT HI PLUS
As the brother to the well-known women’s Reebok Freestyle, this silhouette is also unique for it’s padded collar and velcro ankle strap. Similar details are carried over from the Future Workout Plus style. We worked with garment glove leather as the main material - Reebok began using this butter-soft material during the introduction of these models. We created depth and texture by mixing the face of the leather with certain areas of reversed leather (to get a suede finish).
REEBOK FUTURE CLASSIC LEATHER
The most well-beloved classic style from Reebok, this silhouette was pushed to the future by taking the whole upper pattern and twisting it outwards towards the lateral side. The iconic toecap handle-bar was emphasized through a ghillie loop and a raw edge collar construction reveals a yellowed collar foam. Further personality was added by flaring out the midsole heel more dramatically.

In addition to the core white and black colorways, there was also a nubuck collection that mixed various tones of grey and navy with a muted Desert Rose color on an aged yellow ice-outsole.
